Yevgen Sokol

rector of NTU «KhPI»

Yevgen Sokol is the rector of the National Technical University «Kharkiv Polytechnic Institute», a Corresponding member of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, professor, doctor of technical sciences, Laureate of the State Prize of Ukraine in the field of science and technology.

He graduated from the Faculty of Electrical Engineering at Kharkiv Polytechnic, defended his PhD (1979) and doctoral (1994) dissertations, became a professor, headed the extramural faculty (1988-1994), the Department of Industrial and Biomedical Electronics (since 1986), and worked as vice-rector for scientific and pedagogical work of NTU «KhPI» (2000-2015). Since 2002, he has been elected chairman of the Council of vice-rectors for scientific and pedagogical work in Kharkiv region. In 2012, he was elected as a corresponding member of the National Academy of Ukraine, and in 2015 (and again in 2020) - rector of NTU «KhPI».

Professor Sokol is a member of the editorial boards of many scientific journals. He has supervised 3 doctoral and 25 PhD dissertations. He is the author of more than 300 scientific works, including: 7 monographs, 5 textbooks and study guides, more than 30 copyright certificates and patents. In his position as rector of NTU «KhPI», professor Sokol successfully implements new approaches to university's modernization and development as an innovative, research and technical university of a new type.
